Thamesmead Festival Carnival

SATURDAY 14 AUGUST 2021

Join in with the Carnival of Colours this summer, as part of Thamesmead Festival 2021

We are welcoming Thamesmead residents to get involved in the opening spectacular of this year's Festival - a special carnival parade led by Kinetika Bloco! Weaving through the streets of Thamesmead, bringing energy and excitement, the parade will welcome residents to follow along to the Festival site as one big colourful party.

How to get involved:

- Watch any (or all!) of the tutorial videos below and follow the instructions to learn carnival choreography, how to make costumes, and how to make instruments. You can do this as a group leader and then host your own sessions in your community setting, or you can watch collectively as a group and learn together - whatever works for you!

- The theme of the community parade is Carnival Of Colours, so if you aren't making costumes, we encourage you to wear your brightest clothes.

- Get busy learning, making and rehearsing ahead of Saturday 14th August.

- Attend one of our free community workshops to make costumes, flag and banners which you can bring along to the parade.

- Identify your joining place and time on the map of the parade, found below.

- Get ready to party!
