Jazz FM Awards 2017 - nominees announced

The nominations for the 2017 Jazz FM Awards have been announced.

Coinciding with a particularly significant year for jazz, which sees noteworthy anniversaries occurring across the year including 100 years since the very first jazz recording as well as centenaries for Ella Fitzgerald, Thelonious Monk and Dizzy Gillespie, this year’s gala will present thirteen awards to a range of stand-out artists responsible for carving the way forward in the worlds of jazz, blues and soul.

It's fantastic to see so much young British talent sitting alongside international artists.

Seriously Talented artists Gwilym Simcock (who performs with Pat Metheny in November), Laura Jurd and Shabaka Hutchings (both at Gateshead International Jazz Festival), Nikki Yeoh and Soweto Kinch are among the artists nominated.

The awards ceremony will feature a performance by PPL Lifetime Achievement Award winner Georgie Fame, with Guy Barker.

Other nominees include Brad Mehldau and Madeleine Peyroux (both on tour in May), Moon Hooch (who play London in June) and Donny McCaslin (at Hull Jazz Festival in July).

Click here for the full list and vote for the artists you would like to win UK Jazz Act, Album and Live Experience of the Year by Friday 31 March.

The Jazz FM Awards 2017 is a partnership between Jazz FM and Serious and is made possible with the support of Mishcon De Reya, PRS For Music, Rathbones, Pollitt & Partners, Oris Watches, Grange Hotels, RCS, Denbies Wine Estate, Arqiva, Fever Tree, Yamaha, The Piano Bar Soho and PPL.
