Serious Trust welcomes new Trustee and new Patron to the team

Serious Trust’s Board of Trustees are delighted to make two new appointments – one to our Board of Trustees, and one to our group of Patrons.

Our new trustee is Joel Kibazo - a former diplomat, journalist, and founding partner of JK Associates, a London-based public affairs consultancy focusing on Africa.

Previously he was Managing Director-Africa at international business and communications consultancy FTI Consulting; Director of External Relations & Communications at the African Development Bank, and Spokesperson and Director of Communications & Public Affairs at the Commonwealth Secretariat.

For 12 years before moving into communications, Joel was a journalist at the Financial Times. He also worked extensively in broadcasting, reporting and presenting business, education and cultural programmes for BBC World Service, Radio 4 and BBC World television as well as other broadcasters. He is on the board of One World Media, and a council member of the Royal Africa Society.

We are excited that he will be joining us as we continue to work to ensure that music is accessible for all, and artists have the opportunities they need to reach their full potential.

Joel joins the Board of Trustees and will work alongside:

- Ann Grant (Chair of Trustees)

- Vera Kwakofi

- Anita Scott

- Diana Spiegelberg

- Stephen Smith

- John Williamson

We are also delighted that Baroness Valerie Amos, who has been a valued Serious Trust trustee since 2013 will now continue to support our work as a Patron, alongside Carla Bley, Jon Snow, Kwame Kwei-Armah, Ludovico Einaudi and Richard Thompson.
