Full lineup revealed for the Jazz Voice festival opening gala

This years' Jazz Voice, the EFG London Jazz Festival's signature glittering gala performance, is set to be one of the most special yet, with an all star cast of musicians descending on the Southbank Centre to launch the festival in style. Guy Barker’s 42-piece orchestra teams up with some of today’s most individual vocalists in a spectacular celebration of singing and song, hosted by Jumoké Fashola.

Legendary Portuguese singer Mariza will join the bill, bringing her iconic Fado sound to Jazz Voice ahead of her headline show during the festival, where she will be presenting music from her new and highly acclaimed album 'Mariza'.

Orange is the New Black’s ‘Big Boo’ Lea Delaria also takes to the stage as she 'swings hard, and scats and bends notes in a style that suggests a no-frills Betty Carter on steroids.' (The New York Times). Again, she has her own headline show later in the festival at the Bridge Theatre.

This year's singers also include Lisa Stansfield, 'a tour de force' (Guardian)with a four decade career and hits such as 'All Around The World' and 'The Real Thing', who brings her powerful voice to the EFG London Jazz Festival's opening gala. She'll be joined by Canadian jazz vocalist Laila Biali, who New York Times describes as a 'formidable baritone with husky edges and deep resonant low notes' as well as Deva Mahal, fresh off the success of her debut EP and London shows last year.

Also on the line-up is Anthony Strong, hailed as 'a new, genuine, male jazz singer' by BBC Radio 3, and MOBO winner Zara McFarlane who takes to the stage before performing with Orphy Robinson later on in the Festival.

Jazz Voice is further geared up with singer-songwriter Charlie Wood's soulful singing and eclectic musical style
incorporating elements of jazz, blues, traditional r&b and popular
music

The show will be broadcast live on Radio 3.
