RIP John Taylor

It was with sadness that we learnt of the untimely passing of pianist and composer John Taylor. One of a golden generation of British artists who made their initial mark during the 60s and went on to create a substantial international impact, he was also a continuing inspiration to successive generations of players – and was indeed scheduled to play as a guest soloist with ensembles of young and emerging talent during this November’s EFG London Jazz Festival.

He will be much missed throughout the jazz world, for his lyrically gifted and free-flowing piano stylings, his inventive writing, and for his teaching and mentoring skills.
