He sang to a rapt, swaying crowd. His voice came in a high peal, testifying and beseeching, between Miguel and Thom Yorke. His song had the pure poetic goods to become a modern-day anthem

New York Times

Grief calls out the sufferings caused by racial capitalism, policing and prison systems, and oppressive ideologies through freedom songs, abolitionist songs, and songs that unpack what so many have experienced in this past year, while also suggesting pathways for collective response and resistance

Commissioned by Chamber Music America and New Music USA, Grief was conceived by Pinderhughes and directed by filmmaker Christian Padron, inspired by the black-and-white photography of the legendary Roy DeCarava

A graduate of the Juilliard School, Samora has collaborated with artists including Herbie Hancock, Glenn Ligon, Sara Bareilles, Lalah Hathaway, and Common. A Sundance Composers Lab fellow, Samora has written music for the HBO film The Tale, the Netflix film Burning Sands and more
