Join us for this intimate performance in the gallery by interdisciplinary and movement artist tyroneisaacstuart as he responds to the work of Robert Ryman.
Robert Ryman’s approach to painting was shaped by his early love of jazz. After moving to New York to pursue a career as a saxophonist, he became a painter, but continued to listen to music as he worked. He saw painting as a form of improvisation, with each brushstroke building on the last like successive notes in jazz.
London-based interdisciplinary artist tyroneisaacstuart works across song, dance, text and installation, exploring diaspora, industry, trauma and movement. A graduate of jazz saxophone, he began his career with Tomorrow’s Warriors and Boy Blue Entertainment, and has collaborated with nora chipaumire, Serafine 1369, julianknxx and Moses Boyd. His ongoing multidisciplinary practice includes S!CKJAMGOLDMORENO!SE.
