Pat Metheny returns to London with great new band Side-Eye performing music from across his career plus new material

The sheer invention and energy of Pat Metheny’s music continues to shine, always searching for new sounds and ideas whilst retaining the melodic force and free-wheeling, joyous drive that has been his hallmark since he took the jazz world by storm in the 1970s.

His unrivalled catalogue sees great albums on ECM, Elektra, and Nonesuch, and has now signed a deal with BMG/Modern Records, which has seen the release of Road To The Sun this year

Pat Metheny's fascinating odyssey through music continues. He has created a genre he can't avoid, Metheny music

★★★★ Jazzwise

The jazz guitarist’s signature melodies and clean lines are rendered through gentle sonics

★★★★ Financial Times

He’s performed with Steve Reich, Ornette Coleman, Herbie Hancock, and David Bowie. Now, he's thrilled to be bringing his great new band Side-Eye to London in this classic venue he's packed so many times before that's synonymous with memorable Pat Metheny live concerts. In this London show, and huge world tour, he is joined onstage by Blue Note artist, pianist and keyboardist James Francies and drummer Joe Dyson, who has appeared on albums by Dr. Lonnie Smith, Sullivan Fortner, and Christian Scott

They will be performing music from across Pat Metheny's massive career as well as new material unique to this live band

Doors are at 7pm, Pat Metheny show begins at 8pm, with no interval

I was the beneficiary of so many older musicians giving me a platform to develop my thing through the prism of their experience and music. I hear regularly from new players who have professed an influence from my records and I often invite them up to my house to play. Very often, it is really natural and organic to the music to play with them, they have literally grown up with it. I find myself inspired by how they deal with the musical challenges that come with the territory of some of those older tunes, and at the same time I find myself intrigued with the possibilities of what might be possible in writing new music just for them
