At only 38, Carminho is already widely considered as one of the all time great Portuguese Fado singers; an artist whose eclectic work has roots in both traditional and contemporary fado.

Her much anticipated new studio album, the self-produced Portuguesa, is Carminho’s sixth album and follows 2021’s acclaimed Maria, which achieved Platinum status in Portugal and cemented her reputation as one of the world’s leading proponents of traditional Fado.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to witness one of Portuguese music’s most unique talents as Carminho performs her first UK concert in over six years at Union Chapel.

Opening for Carminho is vocalist, violinist, songwriter and composer Alice Zawadzki, a distinctive and individual presence on the creative European music scene with considerable repute as “a genuine original” (The Guardian).

“A sublime star on the rise”

Evening Standard ★★★★

“Portuguesa” was ten days at the Namouche studio in Lisbon, in March 2022 and the two years that preceded them. I keep looking for the vertigo where I can find, with new combinations of the same matrix, my identity. It’s the story I’ve been writing, my origins, influences and the music I see myself in.”
