Tanya Lacey

Tanya has been performing and working in the Music Industry professionally for over 10 years. She joined her first band “Laidblak” (Ska/Reggae) in her late teens and began writing original music and touring with them full time. Being the only female and youngest member of the band by 15 years, the singer was taken under their wing and was able to soak up a vast amount of knowledge of the inner workings of a band on the road, having access to a studio gave her endless opportunities to create new ideas and learn about vocal recording techniques, understand software, production and band dynamics. Tanya also gained valuable experience of performing on the Festival and Club circuit nationally for 3 consecutive years. She left Laidblak after realising that she wanted to grow as an artist/songwriter and explore different styles of music.

Tanya's versatility as a songwriter became evident when she began getting writing credits for writing Dance and Drum&Bass Tracks with producer/DJ Danny Byrd on his Albums (“From Bath with love” and “Golden Ticket”) penning Soul/HipHop tracks primarily for myself and Urban/Reggae pop for other artists. She received my first Urban Pop writing credit for Co-Writing “Spotlight” a track she also featured on for UK Rap Artist Tinchy Stryder (Catch 22 Album).

Tanya has since gone on to write for and collaborate with World Renown artists/writers: Will.i.am, Rhianna, J-Lo, Tori Kelly, Labyrinth, Emeli Sande, Claude Kelly and Toby Gad to name a few, she also featured on and co-wrote Loick Essien's UK Hit track "How we roll” (Number 2 in the UK charts) and Toured with Bruno Mars.

After making a name for herself working hard behind the scenes as a Topline songwriter in London, LA, Atlanta and New York, Tanya landed her first major record deal with SonyRCA and released her debut buzz single "Letter to my Ex” and “Born to Fly” and signed her first publishing deal with BMG Publishing.

In 2012 Tanya left SonyRCA and set up her own independent record label (Laceywood) and released her debut EP titled "Headchef” which received artistic critical acclaim within the Urban music scene, Headchef was supported by urban radio stations nationwide (Capitol, Kiss, 1Xtra) and enabled her to land a short radio take-over radio slot with BBC 1xtra  in which Tanya sourced and played the best of underground UK talent (“CJ Beats Hot Seat Takeover”).

Most recently, Tanya appeared  on the 2017 season of The Voice UK where the artist went on to compete in the Semi Finals after getting 2 chair turns from Tom Jones and Gavin Rossdale and a steal from Will.i.am. Jennifer Hudson described the singer as "an Artist with the edgy style of Rihanna and the soulful voice of Keysha Cole”

Tanya is currently finishing my second EP due for release next year.
