Guitarist, Rob Luft

Guitarist Rob Luft was the recipient of the 2015 Peter Whittingham Award as part of two collective ensembles – Patchwork Jazz Orchestra and jazz-rock quartet Big Bad Wolf; the following year he received the 2016 Kenny Wheeler Music Prize, and won second prize in the 2016 Montreux Jazz Guitar Competition. 

Rob studied on the jazz programme at the Royal Academy of Music, and has since worked with Django Bates (‘Saluting Sgt Pepper’ tour), Loose Tubes, Iain Ballamy Quartet, Gregory Porter, Laura Jurd’s ‘Dinosaur’, Tommy Smith’s Scottish National Jazz Orchestra (SNJO) & Elina Duni. 

He is a regular member of a number of groups, such as Byron Wallen’s ‘Four’, Eddie Parker’s ‘Airborn’, Martin Speake’s ‘Mafarowi’, and The Alice Zawadzki Group. His debut album, ‘Riser’, was released in July 2017.
