Nubya Garcia, 25, a London-based saxophonist, graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance having studied Jazz Performance in 2016.
Prior to that, she attended London youth music courses such as Tomorrow’s Warriors, Camden Music Service, Royal Academy of Music Junior Jazz, at Berklee’s Five Week Summer Program. In 2017 she was awarded the Steve Reid Foundation Award, giving her the mentoring to begin experimenting with writing and gigging with live electronics.
Nubya is also involved with bands Maisha, Nérija, the Theon Cross Trio, and ‘Idiom’ (with Joe Armon Jones & Maxwell Owins) amongst other projects.
