Dan Stern

Dan Stern first came to light as a jazz saxophonist, working with the likes of Dave Liebman, Dave Binney, Tim Garland, Gwilym Simcock and Robert Mitchell. Recently he has turned his attention to composition and has written for the London Symphony Orchestra as part of their LSO Discovery Panufnik scheme and the London Sinfonietta at the St Magnus International Music Festival. In 2012/13 his focus is collaborative, working in dance and also in a project with movement and instillation specialist Aurelian Koch. Their piece draws on stories from South Africa, based around a giant radio telescope array. He studied music at Cambridge university and Jazz with Dave Liebman in New York.
