Claire McCue

Claire graduated with a Masters in composition at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) 2011 with distinction. The musician’s work has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, BBC Scotland and has performed internationally. Claire has won several prizes; her string quartet was shortlisted by the British panel for Sounds of Tomorrow ISCM World Music Days 2016 and was shortlisted for the Scottish New Music Awards, March 2017.

Alongside this, education and participation work has been a major element of Claire’s career. She is an active music educator interested in the Kodály teaching approach and specializing in early years and middle years education. She has tutored the early years specialism for British Kodaly Academy’s summer school, and co-developed the material and delivered training for over 35 nursery staff, and ten music tutors in Falkirk YMI programme.

Further to this, Claire teaches piano on the RCS Early Years programme, and musicianship for the Junior Conservatoire and RSNO junior chorus, alongside working on a range of music outreach projects including summer workshops for a range of ages, and regular mini music maker classes for Glasgow Concert Hall’s, NYCoS, YMI Falkirk and Wee Inspiration Festivals.

Claire also has a background in Dance and likes to integrate movement into her workshops.
