Caetano Veloso

One of the world’s great songwriters and a thrilling live performer, Brazilian superstar Caetano Veloso’s music radiates warmth.   His seductive, melodic voice and bossa-nova guitar push Brazilian traditions into exciting new realms, and his new album Abraçaço (which loosely translates to “A Big Warm Hug”), which forms the core of this world tour with his band, has a passion and commitment that shows he’s losing none of his edge.

Caetano is one of Brazil’s cultural heroes.  His experiments with integrating rock and bossa nova in the late sixties established him as a key part of the Tropicalia movement alongside Gilberto Gil and Milton Nascimento.  After his arrest by the military government, he lived in exile in London for several years and, although he’s made his name across the world since then, his London concerts have always been very close to his heart.
