Bellatrix is an award winning double bassist, singer, beatboxer and songwriter.
The multi-talented musician was the first professional female beatboxer in the UK and at 19 won the World Beatboxing Championships, going on to become the first British World Beatboxing Champion, while studying Jazz Double Bass at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Bellatrix has worked internationally, across Europe, Asia and America on a wide variety of projects and gigs. More specifically, she has performed at prestigious venues and events including the Royal Festival Hall, Fabric, The Roundhouse, Glastonbury, WOMAD, Green Man. As a recording artist the musician has released 2 EPs, both played on BBCR1, BBCR6MUSIC and Amazing Radio.
Bellatrix’s passion for education and community work has become absolutely central to who she is as an artist, and as such has taken on several projects with diverse groups of participants. In 2016/17 she curated the highly acclaimed Barbican Box project, which involved designing a music project for 13 schools across London and culminated in a performance at the Barbican Centre. Working with the Roundhouse, Bellatrix worked on a project in the Dharavi slum in Mumbai, where she facilitated music workshops which enabled a collaborative performance to a 2000+ audience. Alongside this, she is an artist in residence at the Royal Brompton Hospital on the paediatric ward where she works with heart and lung patients.
Bellatrix is passionate about women getting involved in beatboxing and addressing the gender imbalance within the genre.
