Celebrate St Patrick's weekend with this special stream from Sharon Shannon showcasing her new album The Reckoning with her band

One of Ireland’s finest and most accomplished musicians, Sharon Shannon, will perform a special global livestream from the National Concert Hall Dublin on Saturday 20 March, a celebration of music and song on St Patrick’s weekend. This event joins a series of livestream performances in a partnership with the National Concert Hall and Serious, which also includes an exclusive concert by Christy Moore on 1 May.

Accordion-player/multi-instrumentalist Sharon Shannon will perform music from her new album, The Reckoning, as well as many favourites from her back catalogue. She will be joined by Irish-Zimbabwean singer Lucia Evans, fellow former Waterboy Trevor Hutchinson on double bass, Niall Murphy on fiddle, Alan Connor on piano and guitar, Steve Hogan on drums, Luke Dunford on Hammond organ, Jack Maher on electric guitar and vocals and Jim Murray on acoustic guitar.

Whilst she is known for her traditional arrangements and Irish-influenced compositions, Sharon Shannon is a musician who likes to explore new styles and collaborate both in Irish traditional music and other musical genres from hip-hop, to classical, country and reggae. The Reckoning is considered one of her most innovative and adventurous albums to date and was recorded entirely in lockdown, featuring remote collaborations from locations across the globe, with guests including Donal Lunny, reggae legend Dennis Bovell, dub poet Linton Kwesi Johnson, guitarist Justin Adams and rising Irish star Susan O’Neill.

Over the course of her remarkable career Sharon Shannon has recorded and toured with musicians such as Bono, Adam Clayton, Sinead O’Connor, Jackson Browne, The Chieftains, The Waterboys, John Prine, Nigel Kennedy, Shane MacGowan and many more – a list that is testament to her versatility as well as her talent – and has performed in front US Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.

The stream will be available to view ticket holders for 48 hours following the performance
