MOBO nominee Ayanna, a pioneer of Black folk music, brings together her open-hearted blues and soul voice with inventive cello and piano playing. Classically trained as a composer in London and New York she is the only non-American to win the legendary Amateur Night Live at Harlem's Apollo Theatre. Her debut EP Truthfully was produced by Marc Mac (4-Hero) and recent collaborators include Akala, Riz MC and players from the London Symphony Orchestra. Her latest EP previewed on Edith Bowman’s BBC Radio 1’s Review Show will be released this December as she continues to tour the world at the invitation of the Songlines Artist of the year Anoushka Shankar.
