An Evening with Cowboy Junkies

An Evening with Cowboy Junkies

Sun 27 November 2022

Stage time / 7:30pm

Cowboy Junkies proved with their first album that there was an audience waiting for something quiet, beautiful and reflective. The Trinity Session was like a whisper that cut through the noise - and it was compelling, especially the iconic version of Lou Reed's ‘Sweet Jane’. It combined folk, blues and rock in a way that had never been heard before and went on to sell more than a million copies.

An eclectic band who could handle anything from the gutsy through to the new and experimental

Guitarist Michael Timmins, vocalist Margo Timmins, drummer Peter Timmins, and bassist Alan Anton return with their new album Songs of the Recollection, which Michael introduces: ‘Long before we were musicians, we were music fans. This was the passion and experience that we shared. These are some of the songs and some of the artists that have found their way into our lives and repertoire’

Cowboy Junkies onstage at 7.30pm - they will play two sets with no support act

The album is a keeper. Nine songs from across the last five decades, none of them obvious. And each carefully thought-out. Lovely instrumental and vocal textures, good musicianship. It feels very live and very real
