The Sounds Of Becontree
We are looking for talented and motivated vocalists, aged 16-25 and who live in Barking & Dagenham, to audition for a special project for Becontree Forever, in partnership with EFG London Jazz Festival.
We will be hosting an open audition process, where we are asking for video submissions to act as an audition for the project.
Following these auditions, our panel of experts will select 8 vocalists for bespoke one-to-one and group mentoring from MOBO-Award-Winning artist Zara McFarlane. The aim of these sessions is to prepare vocalists for a dedicated showcase within the Jazz Festival, produced by the Festival's expert team, which will be filmed and streamed to audiences across the world.
Those taking part in the project will gain invaluable experience performing as part of a large-scale cultural festival, with exposure to the Festival’s worldwide audience base – in 2020 we reached 109 countries and had over a million audience members.
Key Dates:
- Deadline for video submissions is Wednesday 6th October 2021
- Successful candidates will be invited to join the project by Monday 11th October 2021
- The vocal mentoring residency will happen on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th October 2021
- The showcase event in the EFG London Jazz Festival will take place on Saturday 20th November 2021
