For all of Neal Richardson's career, Nat King Cole has been an ever-present inspiration. This tribute is a work of love, from one pianist and singer to the memory of another. Neal tells Nat's inspiring and uplifting story through an honest and affectionat
Neal is a powerful and rhythmic piano/vocalist playing jazz, blues and originals, and an award-winning Producer. Neal cut his teeth performing in jazz clubs, hotels, and cruise ships in over 50 countries, from Rio to Raffles, Norway to New Orleans, Vietnam to Venezuela. His Quartet has entertained Royalty, Hollywood celebrities and VIPs at world-renowned venues, including playing for George Clooney on his yacht at the Cannes Film Festival.
For all of Neal Richardson's career, Nat King Cole has been hovering in the background, an ever-present inspiration. Neal's father, also a pianist, was a fan of Nat's and so the young Neal grew up listening to classics such as Orange Coloured Sky, Mona Lisa and Sweet Lorraine. Not to put too fine a point on it, Nat's music was the main reason why Neal wanted to become a professional pianist in the first place. Whilst working in Los Angeles, he was privileged to have the opportunity to play Nat's piano at Capitol Studios. So this tribute is a work of love, from one pianist and singer to the memory of another.
Rather than attempting to imitate Nat King Cole, the show is an honest and affectionate re-working of some of his greatest hits, with a biographical strand running throughout as Neal tells Nat's inspiring and uplifting story.
