As part of a series of EFG London Jazz Festival concerts curated by Jazz pianist Sam Leak, and hosted by Oliver's Jazz Bar in Greenwich, drummer James Maddren presents a new quartet featuring Lewis Wright (Empirical), bassist Conor Chaplin (Dinosaur), and saxophonist Tom Challenger (Kit Downes). Described by London Jazz News as "one of the most in-demand jazz drummers in Europe," when Maddren completed his studies at the Royal Academy of Music he was presented with the highly prestigious ‘Principal’s Award For Outstanding Studentship’. He has since shared the stage with an impressive array of artists and ensembles, including: the Gwilym Simcock trio, Kit Downes' 'Enemy', Jacob Collier, The Marc Copland/Stan Sulzmann Quartet, The Mark McKnight Organ Quartet featuring Seamus Blake, The Ivo Neame Group, Phil Donkin, Alex Garnett’s 'Bunch of Five,' Michael Janisch, Will Vinson, The Martin Speake Quartet, Nikki Iles, and Norma Winstone.
