George Crowley Trio

LONDON The Oxford
256 Kentish Town Rd

An evening of forward-thinking, electronically-tinged jazz and improvised music from saxophonist and composer George Crowley, and his newest trio, featuring BBC New Generation artist, guitarist Rob Luft and award-winning drummer Tim Giles.

George Crowley is a saxophonist, clarinetist, composer and promoter based in London. Since his arrival in the capital in 2007, Crowley has steadily established himself as a key player within the city's burgeoning creative jazz/improvised music scene, and finds himself increasingly well-known further afield, performing across the UK and Europe.

As a performer, he is active across a range of styles. Equally at home with contemporary showstoppers 'Melt Yourself Down' and Yazz Ahmed as he is with musicians on the experimental improvised music scene, Crowley's new trio featuring Rob Luft and Tim Giles will perform music from their forthcoming album, focusing on George's broad view of what jazz can be.

Featuring melodic writing, ambient textures and interactive group improvisations Crowley's trio immerses you in a world of grooves from a broad range of influences - augmented with the use of electronic effects.

"...a fine young composer/player who knows where the music has been and where he's headed with it." John Fordham, The Guardian

"Rarely does a player so young debut with such a fully rounded tone and range of writing skills, so keep a keen ear out for Crowley: the future could yet be his" Jazzwise Magazine
