GAIKA - Phoenix Rising

LONDON Roundhouse
Chalk Farm Road

Experience GAIKA like never before as he headlines the Roundhouse Main Space with a ten-piece jazz ensemble, led by Jason Yarde, and unveils an audio-visual collaboration with young creatives – sending a message of hope from Britain’s next generation.

If you’ve seen GAIKA on stage before you’ll be familiar with his musical approach; a unique style fusing dancehall, urban and electronic music, yet evading categorisation. You’ll likely have experienced some of his work as an interdisciplinary artist and visionary. You may have even read some of his political contributions as editor-at-large at Dazed. But this year, at Roundhouse Rising, the UK’s leading launch pad for next generation talent, you’ll experience something new, unique and special. Tonight, we’re going to look into the future…

Join us for an AV spectacular with gravitas. In collaboration with jazz promoter Serious and Sight & Sound Sessions, GAIKA will take to the stage for a live set unlike anything the artist has done to date. As an integral part of the show, visuals will take the audience on a journey led by young people using audio & visual creativity to send a message of hope for the future. If you’ve read GAIKA’s visual essay ‘The Spectacular Empire’, then perhaps tonight you’ll witness what next emerges.

Gaika's performance is supported by Giant Steps, a talent development programme run by Serious and funded by Help Musicians UK, the Serious Trust, and Arts Council England.
