Ahmad Jamal

LONDON Barbican
Silk Street

Well into his 80s, Ahmad Jamal continues to perform at the very highest level, entrancing audiences with the subtleties of light, shade and space combined with an instinctive command of groove that has defined his music for decades. His 2017 album Marseille confirms that this is an artist at the very top of his creative game – a 'extraordinarily beautiful' recording of 'consistent brilliance' (All About Jazz).

A night to celebrate one of the great figures in jazz piano history, performing a rare London concert.

Herlin Riley - drums

James Cammack - bass

Manolo Badrena - percussion

Special guest vocalists are French/Congolese rapper/songwriter/author/film director Abd al Malik and French/ Benin singer/songwriter Mina Agossi, who both also appear on the new album.

At once frisky, funny and funky as hell
