Bugge Wesseltoft celebrates 20 years since he fused Nordic electronica and soundscape with the energy of jazz improv and the urban grooves of club culture in the New Conception of Jazz – the original band’s recording marked the first release on the visionary Jazzland label.

Two decades and many sessions later, Wesseltoft lands at Kings Place for an EFG London Jazz Festival residency.

This concert features the latest edition of Wesseltoft’s New Conception of Jazz which breathes fresh life into the groove and is packed with emerging new players and an all-female band that moves the project into a whole new zone. Preceded by the extraordinary two-tenor talents of saxophonist/opera singer Håkon Kornstad.

'One of the world’s finest saxophonists now reveals himself as an utterly unique and deeply personal singer. Rarely, if ever, has a performing artist managed to combine two vastly different musical expressions at such a sky-high level, and at the same time made the total output seem so clear and coherent.' (Ketil Bjørnstad)

'It could have been a virtuosic circus act, but in Kornstad´s hands was a musical tour de force.' (Guardian)
