A recent review described pianist, composer and organist Alexander Hawkins as ‘unlike anything else in modern creative music’. Alongside his critically acclaimed work as a leader, he is also much in demand as a sideman with such seminal figures as Louis Moholo-Moholo and Mulatu Astatke, amongst many others. A recent major commission was from the BBC, on which network he can also frequently be heard as a specialist interviewer/interviewee.
